How we address equity
Kendall Hunt provides diverse learning opportunities through professional learning resources that empower teachers with the right tools to: • Engage ALL students in authentic discussions and sense-making • Prepare ALL students to participate in driving their learning by posing thoughtful questions and offering ways to find solutions • Offer immediate feedback to ALL student work/ideas • Construct models based on ALL student input that demonstrates the understanding of the phenomenon and where gaps may exist • Scaffold instructional delivery to meet the needs of ALL students as they engage in the 3-dimensions of the NGSS, while considering SEL classroom demands
Why is this important?
How we build district capacity
Our organization helps to develop an intentional implementation plan, while addressing what it will take to use and support the materials well. We support teachers as they engage in the instructional materials to encourage authentic instruction and increase student learning. Our organization focuses on listening to teachers and providing solutions based on their individual and collective needs to ultimately deliver continuous teacher support.
Why is this important?
How we provide curriculum-aligned PL

Workshops

Each workshop is tailored in order to support the participants in growing the professional instructional delivery. Some workshops are much more overarching giving a high-level insight into the resource, whereas others are more granular dealing with explicit topics such as Discussion Types, Sense-making, or Driving Question Boards.

Coaching

Sessions are provided in either small/large group settings or individual conversations. The topics for our coaching sessions are very clear and precise – of or relating to one or two aspects of the curriculum. These sessions typically culminate with either strategies/solutions that support the teacher while implementing the HQIM.

PLCs

Throughout our Launch PL, teachers are encouraged to visit the many blogs and forums specific to what units they teach. These groups can be found on various platforms such as: https://www.openscied.org/events/category/professional-learning/page/2/?tribe-bar-date=2020-11-01, https://www.openscied.org/facebook-groups/, and https://mmslnetwork.wordpress.com/2021/09/14/openscied-middle-school-network-mmsln-supported/. They provide invaluable information/ ideas from fellow teachers who have/are experiencing the same questions and issues.
