All of the professional learning partners featured in the Guide undergo a thorough review process by a team of expert reviewers from across the country.

Who we are
Education First partners with state and local leaders nationwide. System leaders need forward-thinking strategies rooted in coherence, equity and excellence to eliminate gaps and accelerate learning for students farthest from opportunity. We have supported more than a dozen school systems and seven states with the issues, politics and implementation of HQIM and professional learning. We specialize in coaching local and state executive leaders to develop, refine, monitor, and improve interrelated HQIM and systematic talent strategies.

These phases refer to the distinct areas of support (adoption, launch, ongoing for teachers, ongoing for leaders) that PL partners provide to schools and school systems to support curriculum adoption and implementation.

Adoption: Services to help educators review and purchase a new curriculum.

Launch: Initial training for teachers and school leaders after they purchase a new curriculum on how to use it to support student learning.

Ongoing for teachers: Ongoing support and coaching for teachers focused on effective use of their curriculum.

System design and leadership support: Supports school system leaders with the enabling conditions and resources required for a successful implementation of the HQIM.

Rivet defines HQIM in ELA, Math, and Science as those rated ‘Meets Expectations’ on EdReports in all grade levels for their grade band (K–2, 3–5, 6–8, 9–12).

If your curriculum is not listed, then it does not meet these criteria or has not been reviewed to date.

What does this certification mean?

EL Education has partnered with select professional learning providers through a philanthropically-funded pilot certification program designed to build knowledge around the content, structure, and intent of the EL Education K-5 Language Arts curriculum. In the final phase of the program, participants from each partner organization demonstrated expertise in facilitating curriculum-aligned professional learning in a real-world context.

Illustrative Mathematics: Professional Learning certified by Illustrative Mathematics is delivered through our IM Certified Facilitators, who undergo a rigorous qualification and training process to gain mastery in delivering impactful professional learning experiences based on the author’s intent. IM Certified Facilitators deliver learning educators need, in a variety of formats, including onsite academies and live virtual classrooms.

Open Up Resources (OUR) vets professional learning partners to guarantee OUR customers receive the highest quality professional learning. The vetting process includes a comprehensive certification process that ensures professional learning providers are OUR curricula experts with the experience necessary to provide professional learning that leads to efficacious implementation of OUR curricula.

OpenSciEd is growing a community of certified professional learning providers. OpenSciEd-Certified organizations include partners who helped to develop the materials and professional learning as well as organizations newer to OpenSciEd who have demonstrated deep understanding of the professional learning goals and pedagogy. Certified organizations collaborate and learn from each other in an online community as they work together to meet the unique needs of teachers, administrators, instructional coaches, and district leaders to revolutionize classrooms with OpenSciEd’s materials.

Each provider in the PLPG provides a sample scope of work for each type of professional learning they are approved for. The scopes of work represent engagements with actual clients and are intended to give users a better understanding of how the provider engages with teachers and leaders in each type of professional learning.

How we address equity
We devote our energy and expertise to improving opportunities for all children, especially BIPOC students and students experiencing poverty. We partner with system leaders, building administrators and instructional leaders to cultivate the conditions—people, knowledge, resources, policies, and programs—that ensure coherence, equity and excellence for all educators and students. We believe that implementation of HQIM supports teachers in holding joyful, affirming grade-level expectations for all students, therefore reducing bias. Curriculum-based professional learning supports educators to develop a deeper understanding of the instructional shifts, content and the intellectual preparation needed to provide better instruction for all students.

High-quality professional learning supports teachers in effectively engaging all students in rigorous tasks, including students with unfinished learning, students learning English, and students with special needs.

Implicit racism plays a major role in perpetuating achievement gaps in classrooms across the country. Rivet is committed to dismantling racism by connecting educators with professional learning partners who confront implicit racism through culturally responsive services that support teachers in providing high quality instruction to all students every day.

Our solutions include helping district and school leaders adopt and implement HQIM, improve their systems and support for evidence-based instructional practices, coaching principals on effective instructional systems, HQIM-based professional development, collecting data, synthesizing trends for school and district leaders, conducting landscape analyses of the current state of curriculum use, developing detailed implementation plans with activities to achieve a strong instructional vision for HQIM, and providing ongoing coaching and thought partnership implementing the new plans.

How we provide curriculum-aligned PL

Workshops

Coaching

We are skilled in coaching state, district and school leaders to put the systems and structures in place for HQIM implementation. This coaching includes both content-specific and curriculum-specific feedback and support. Coaching is individualized based upon the specific setting and the needs of the system and the leaders.

PLCs

We support district and building leaders to design the structures to facilitate curriculum-based professional learning cycles across schools. This structure is centered around using their HQIM skillfully, and includes practices such as lesson internalization, preparation and using student learning data.

Consultations

We provide HQIM consulting and coaching to state, district, school and classroom leaders to support instructional coherence and the conditions in which educators are equipped to implement their HQIM skillfully, improving academic success for all students.
