Welcome to Rivet! To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about your background?
Thank you! I’m thrilled to be here. My path has zigzagged through classrooms, nonprofits, and community spaces. I started as a dual language teacher with Teach For America, taught 4th graders in English and Spanish, and later supported high schoolers balancing academics with corporate internships. I’ve always been drawn to the places where systems and stories meet—especially when it comes to making education more human-centered, more joyful, and more just. I’m a mom to a beautiful, adventurous one-year-old baby boy who reminds me on a daily basis that learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom 🙂
What are some areas of expertise or unique perspectives you bring to your new role?
I bring a hybrid lens—part educator, part program manager, and part data nerd (with strong Google Sheets opinions). I love the intersection of systems and people, and strive to make them help each other. My background makes me pretty obsessed with access and clarity. I want our review processes to feel rigorous and reliable—where providers feel seen, and our team feels supported. Plus, as someone who speaks English, Spanish, and Telugu, I think a lot about language— how we listen, reflect, and connect.
What drew you to Rivet Education?
The mission. I’ve worked in systems where professional learning felt like an afterthought—and I’ve also seen what happens when it works. Rivet is doing the rare work of bridging the two: holding high standards while lifting up real-world educators and providers. That felt deeply aligned with what I care about. Plus, after my first few convos with the team, I had this gut feeling like, Oh. These are my people.
You’re stepping into a key role as PLPG Review Manager. What are you most excited about?
I’m excited to strengthen a process that’s clear and supportive—for providers and reviewers alike. I also truly love working with Joslyn, our Director of the PLPG. She brings such thoughtfulness and clarity to the work, and I know I’ll learn a lot from her leadership. It’s a great feeling to step into a role knowing you have strong guidance.
What do you hope to accomplish in this role?
At a big-picture level, I hope to contribute to a national shift in how we define and recognize high-quality professional learning. More immediately, I’m focused on strengthening the review process by asking questions like how can we make this clearer, more equitable, and more impactful?
As someone deeply engaged in evaluating and supporting professional learning, what do you believe makes great professional learning truly great?
Great PL sticks when it’s relevant, reflective, and real. It doesn’t talk at educators; it works with them. It honors their time and gives them tools they can actually use on a Monday morning. Bonus points if it includes snacks!
And finally, when you’re not working, how do you like to spend your time?
I love spending time with my sweet, curious baby! I also enjoy baking, reading, traveling, creating art, and putting together thoughtful gifts for friends and family. Anything creative or connection-filled helps me recharge.
