What are these scopes?
How we address equity
Our professional learning services deeply center equity, resulting in partner systems experiencing gap closure between Black and brown and white student outcomes at 3-5 times the rate of their states. Our professional learning deepens shared understanding of the relationship between high-quality instructional materials and equity. It also equips teachers to facilitate student engagement with the materials using culturally responsive teaching practices and instructional leaders to effectively coach and monitor. We attend to equity in the experiences of professional learning participants through seeking feedback, which we disaggregate and analyze, on the extent to which we created a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Why is this important?
How we build district capacity
Our professional learning intentionally takes a layered approach across role types in a school system. We partner with central office leaders to create and/or refine anchor resources for implementation such as roles and responsibilities, measures of success, content-specific instructional vision, pacing guidance, assessment map, and tools for internalizing curriculum, observing curriculum lessons, and analyzing student work on curriculum-embedded tasks. Our professional learning scope and sequence incorporates role-specific yet aligned objectives (for example, around curriculum internalization) for each participant group (e.g., teacher, coach, etc) and engages these anchor resources as well as ongoing implementation data/trends contextualized by role.
