Who we are
BetterLesson partners with K-12 district leaders that seek to empower every educator to support the diverse needs of their students through research-backed pedagogy. Our strategically aligned and differentiated professional learning programs turn district goals into student achievement. We combine innovative technologies and immersive adult learning experiences, delivered throughout the school year, to enable educators to establish sustainable change-in-practice. Our programs offer districts both guiding structure and personalized attention to support educators at every level.

How we address equity
At BetterLesson, equity is at the heart of our professional learning programs. Our learning experiences are designed with accessibility and inclusivity in mind, and support a learning environment that is welcoming and responsive to the needs of diverse participants. We offer several focus areas for districts that center around inclusive and responsive practices that guide educators in creating learning environments where every student is seen, heard, and valued. Our mission is to support the growth and development of all learners, regardless of their background or starting point.
Why is this important?
How we build district capacity
BetterLesson helps districts build capacity by providing personalized professional learning experiences that meet the needs of all educators, including: 1:1 Coaching Workshops Observational Learning Walks Curriculum Adoption and Implementation Support Lesson Plans Instructional Strategies On-Demand Asynchronous Course Our learning experiences are designed to support educators to backwards plan to ensure full coverage of grade level standards, alignment to evidence based best practices, and support for all students. The offerings also include strategies for frequent progress monitoring. BetterLesson is committed to supporting all educators to use HQIMs to ensure that all students have opportunities to routinely engage in rigorous learning activities.

How we provide curriculum-aligned PL

Workshops

BetterLesson Workshops connect cohorts of educators, virtually or in-person, to work together to deeply understand topics aligned to strategic goals. Led by expert BL Coaches, Workshops reinforce key pedagogical theories, introduce new strategies and HQIM for instructional practice, help integrate new curricula and introduce learning models to try in classrooms.

Coaching

BetterLesson’s 1:1 job-embedded, virtual coaching offers a flexible, personalized experience that addresses educators’ individual needs. Coaching provides educators of all levels with the opportunity to connect in a safe and confidential environment with a trusted expert to address the most pressing challenges facing their schools and students.

PLCs

BetterLesson Coaches create and facilitate safe and collaborative spaces to support groups of educators to think, reflect, discuss, and share ideas about common problems of practice. These spaces are reflective and action oriented with clear goals and outcomes.

Consultations

BL Learning Walks builds leader capacity with data-informed, focused, non-evaluative frameworks to support school leaders in identifying strengths and gaps while empowering leaders with strategies that are easy to use, replicate, and are highly effective. Connecting leaders to teacher practice, this service engages educators in whole school improvement and systemic change.
