WHO WE ARE
MQI Coaching works with schools and districts to improve the quality of math teaching and learning. Developed and rigorously tested through a research study, the MQI Coaching model has since been scaled and refined in response to promising findings. The MQI Coaching model combines video observations of math instruction and math-specific measures of high-quality instruction to facilitate teacher growth. Districts can now partner with MQI Coaching to provide ongoing, one-on-one coaching for teachers or training for instructional coaches.

How we address equity
MQI Coaching supports equity by ensuring historically marginalized students have the opportunity to deeply engage in high-quality, grade-appropriate math instruction. MQI Coaching supports teachers in implementing curriculum tasks as intended in ways that keeps the cognitive demand on the students, rather than the teacher. In particular, several codes of the MQI rubric provide specific criteria for defining high-quality student engagement across a range of practices. This enables teachers to reflect on their own practice and generate ideas on how to improve their teaching to better support their students.

How we build district capacity
MQI Coaching builds district capacity among teachers and instructional leaders, equipping them with the tools and skills to drive sustainable improvement. We partner with districts to ensure MQI Coaching is embedded within the larger professional learning system, and aligned with district needs and goals. Instructional leaders gain tools to facilitate more effective coaching cycles and elevate instruction across the district, while teachers develop a critical lens for reflecting on, planning, and delivering high-quality instruction.
