How are partners selected for the PL Partner Guide?
Who we are
NTC partners with educators across the country to find new, more equitable ways forward. We believe that excellent coaching is a fundamental lever to produce positive student outcomes. NTC’s coaching model is grounded in best practices in adult learning theory, including a focus on real-world application and job-embedded support. We believe that support for leaders and educators must be ongoing — not a one-and-done professional learning experience — and focused on cycles of continuous improvement.

Sample scopes of work
What are these scopes?
How we address equity
With a focus on knowledge of self and deep knowledge of students, we support teachers and leaders to address mindsets and biases that may (knowingly or unknowingly) perpetuate educational inequities for our historically underserved – yet most resilient – student populations. Our imperative is to build inclusive classrooms that nurture the positive potential of the human community with antiracist teaching and learning that reflects, values, and enriches every student, builds knowledge, understanding, and perspective-taking of self and others, and promotes social justice and learner empowerment.
Why is this important?
How we build district capacity
Our job-embedded work with clients – including professional learning, in-field coaching, and district leader consultation – allows us the opportunity to build their capacity to continue the HQIM implementation beyond the term of the partnership. Our focus on essential knowledge of the content and intentional design of the curriculum in order to make the curriculum accessible for every student continues through all aspects of the contract (professional learning, in-field coaching, and consultation), so that they may continue that work beyond the term of the contract.
Why is this important?
How we provide curriculum-aligned PL

Workshops

NTC uses professional learning workshops to introduce key resources and concepts that participants can then use in their day-to-day practice. Length and duration of workshops, as well as the content, can be fully customized to partner needs.

Coaching

NTC provides one-on-one and/or small group coaching to support participants with applying their professional learning to their practice. For example, we may observe and debrief with a leader who is coaching an educator, or we may directly observe and coach an educator implementing high-quality instructional materials in their classroom.

PLCs

NTC supports partners to consider ways that professional learning can be embedded within existing collaborative structures such as PLCs, when educators have the opportunity to discuss problems of practice, lesson plan, etc. We may also support school leaders to establish such structures where there are opportunities to do so.

Consultations

NTC ensures that all curriculum launch and implementation efforts are aligned to district strategic plans. Therefore, we intentionally build time with district and school leaders to discuss how launch and/or implementation is going, monitor progress, and ensure cohesion with broader initiatives, all while planning for long-term sustainability.
