How we address equity
We offer ongoing opportunities for educators to internalize lessons and understand student work to make informed, data-based instructional decisions. The goal is that all students are provided opportunities to read and learn, as teachers make strategic instructional choices with a high-quality instructional curriculum. Teachers are equipped to analyze and respond to classroom data for instructional planning and adapt lessons to provide equitable access to knowledge. We support teachers in their understanding about how high-quality instructional curriculum drives equitable instruction, and how strong implementation offers opportunities for culturally affirming instruction within the classroom and across the classrooms within a school/district.
Why is this important?
How we build district capacity
Sustainability is built throughout all aspects of the engagement with an LEA to create long-term success and equitable literacy instruction. Ongoing implementation of the high-quality instructional program is supported through a partnership with program publishers to enable use of curriculum that is informed and strategic. We build teacher knowledge and facility with program use, making “fidelity with flexibility” a realistic outcome. With leaders, we establish a scope and sequence to focus each Professional Learning and Direct-Coaching session. Leadership for literacy is built through district literacy leadership structures and coaching teams, ensuring sustainability through shared knowledge and distributed leadership.
