WHO WE ARE
The Reading League (TRL) advances evidence-aligned literacy instruction through professional learning and curriculum adoption support. Our theory of action is that when leaders and educators build deep understanding of the research behind high-quality instructional materials, they make stronger decisions and implement with greater coherence. We are best at translating complex literacy research into practical tools and processes. As developers of nationally recognized evaluation resources, we bring unique depth and credibility to adoption and implementation work.

How we address equity
Equity is embedded in all of TRL’s professional learning. We ground decisions in evidence-aligned literacy research to ensure all students, including multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and those historically underserved, have access to high-quality instructional materials. Our tools and professional learning emphasize coherent knowledge building, explicit foundational skills instruction, language development, and access to grade-level texts. By guiding leaders and committees through structured analyses, we support districts in making evidence-based decisions that expand access to rigorous, inclusive instruction across schools.
Why is this important?
How we build district capacity
TRL builds district capacity by strengthening leaders’ and educators’ understanding of the research foundations behind high-quality instructional materials and effective literacy instruction. Through structured adoption support and application-focused professional learning, we develop shared language, clear decision-making processes, and internal expertise across roles. Our tools and protocols help districts evaluate materials, align implementation plans, and monitor progress with coherence, equipping local teams to sustain high-quality implementation across schools.
