Students with Disabilities Badge Rubric
FOR EXISTING PROVIDERS
ABOUT THE STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES BADGE
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The students with disabilities badge ensures that professional learning providers:
- Prioritize equity by helping participants examine how assumptions about students with disabilities can impact instruction and student outcomes.
- Promote effective instruction of students with disabilities by demonstrating how to leverage collaborative structures that support inclusive implementation of HQIM.
- Equip participants to evaluate and address the needs of all students by leveraging inclusive assessment systems.
- Equip participants to effectively utilize HQIM-embedded Universal Design for Learning techniques to support all students’, including students with disabilities’, access to grade-level HQIM.
- Teach evidence-based strategies for using HQIM to teach, reteach or reinforce prior learning for all students, including students with disabilities.
Providers must choose which Students with Disabilities application they want to submit:
- SWD Badge for Teachers Professional Learning
- SWD Badge for Leaders Professional Learning
Providers can apply for one or both.
The executive summary and artifacts are evaluated against the indicators for the specific type of badge application for which they were submitted. For each badge for which your organization applies - ongoing for teachers, ongoing for leaders - submit the following:
- A set of sample client-facing materials that demonstrates your organization’s expertise in each type and the indicators within it; may include sample presentations with facilitator guide/notes, handouts, guidebooks, course syllabi, client work plans, client reflection questions, coaching notes, etc. Submit one artifacts PDF per badge submission (maximum 200 pages) that provides evidence for all indicators for this phase.
- An executive summary for each badge submission that provides an overview of your evidence within your artifacts for each type and describes how your organization’s PL services meet specific indicators. Submit one executive summary as a PDF per badge submission.
Only the information included in the artifact PDF and what is written in the executive summary will be evaluated. We will not review any external links.
