How we address equity
Kids First is dedicated to what our name implies: we put ALL Kids First. When we encounter labeling of students or lower expectations from teachers for some students, we confront this head-on by modeling research-proven strategies to ensure that grade-level instructional materials are accessible to ALL students. With appropriate scaffolding and differentiation, ALL students, regardless of race or socio-economic status, can and will successfully master standards through that grade level material. We model a non-biased approach to effective and growth-centered instruction in the classroom for the teacher and in the school for all leaders.
Why is this important?
How we build district capacity
By focusing on processes and standards-based resources, Kids First coaches build capacity with partner schools and districts during the term of the contract and beyond. Our coaches are committed to meeting at any time, virtually or on-site, with partnering schools and/or districts between the interim of scheduled days, in addition to sending recorded videos with embedded coaching. Any updates to any coaching resources are sent to partnering schools and districts, even if beyond the contract, to continuously build capacity.
Why is this important?
How we provide curriculum-aligned PL

Workshops

Hands-on workshops are customized and personalized to support specific professional learning goals of the district/school with which Kids First partners. Collaborative and interactive sessions are created by our coaches and then discussed and approved by district/school instructional leadership to ensure goals are achieved.

Coaching

Coaches work side-by-side with administrators, general- and special-education teachers, district/school instructional coaches, and other personnel who impact KIDS. Before coaching begins, our team works collaboratively with the district/school to ensure goals are specific and measurable. Service reports are completed for each day worked to ensure coaching meets the specific goals.

PLCs

Kids First coaches are trained to lead Professional Learning Communities and other collaborative structures to affect instruction, ensuring both teacher and student growth. Our processes are based on research and developed and implemented to build capacity within instructional leaders. After each session, debriefing occurs to discuss goals met.

Consultations

Kids First professional consultants will provide a needs analysis for multiple areas, including instruction, SEL, equity, safety, RtI, and many more. After an extensive break-down by our expert consultants, a comprehensive presentation is created to provide recommendations and next steps to improve the specific area(s) of need.
