Rivet Releases First Professional Learning Case Study

Rivet Education released today its first case study, The Power of Dynamic Professional Learning to Launch a New Curriculum – A Wisconsin Story, highlighting how Mount Horeb Area School District (MHASD) in southern Wisconsin has successfully developed a model for implementing Bridges in Mathematics through the use of high-quality professional learning. The study reveals how MHASD’s innovative approach to high-quality professional learning has increased teacher collaboration and confidence and grown students’ math identity.

In February 2022, Rivet Education visited MHASD to observe the implementation of its newly adopted math curriculum—Bridges of Mathematics—and how its partnership with local professional learning provider Cooperative Educational Service Agency 2 (CESA 2) was supporting its work. Rivet was particularly keen on learning more about this partnership, given that CESA 2 is a professional learning partner featured in the Wisconsin Professional Learning Partner Guide. Like Rivet’s national Professional Learning Partner Guide, this customized state-level version, created by Rivet, helps Wisconsin school and district leaders quickly identify trusted and vetted organizations that provide high-quality, curriculum-based professional learning.

The case study highlights critical components of the partnership between MHASD and CESA 2 and models how a school district and professional learning provider can work together to ensure all teachers have the necessary tools and support to launch high-quality instructional materials skillfully. Furthermore, it provides a concrete example of what high-quality, curriculum-aligned professional learning looks like in practice. 

Rivet will be joined by MHASD’s Director of Instruction, Sarah Straka, for their Professional Learning Power Hour on August 18.
