What are these scopes?
How we address equity
We believe that adopting high-quality materials is an important step towards equitable student learning, but data has shown that ongoing support is necessary for schools to reach that goal. We work with teams to identify and remove barriers to student access to high-quality materials and instruction. Our partners analyze patterns of learning differences amongst student groups, and seek to understand why they exist in order to reduce them. Our goal is to build each team’s capacity to make the adjustments in the resources, structures, instructional strategies, and mindsets that will allow all students to excel.
Why is this important?
How we build district capacity
L. Hickman Education Consulting builds capacity for ongoing HQIM implementation by aligning the vision and structures at the district, school, and classroom level. Partnerships launch with a close examination of the current state of HQIM use in the LEA. We identify the gaps between the vision and current state of instruction, and set goals to close those gaps. Partners engage in a variety of learning experiences including: co-planning and/or co-facilitation of professional development, classroom observation and feedback cycles, student data analysis, and curriculum study. These experiences equip partners with the skills, strategic plans, and structures for ongoing implementation improvement.
