How we address equity
ARC’s PL helps teachers and leaders use culturally diverse HQIM and data tracking tools to “see their system”—finding areas where inequity is exacerbated. Executive Coaches, who have earned the ARC Coach Certification™, guide educators to develop stronger abilities to identify and disrupt systemic educational inequities through a change management model that: (1) locates “bright spots” where individual educators make a real difference, (2) uses responsive pedagogy and literacy instructional best practices to identify positive differences, (3) creates a lovingly accountable adult learning culture, and (4) tracks data to ensure outcomes change and intervene when they don’t.
Why is this important?
How we build district capacity
ARC supports LEAs as they build capacity to successfully implement ARC Core®. Beginning the implementation with launch workshops, teachers are introduced to the high-quality instructional materials, structures, and routines of ARC Core. Ongoing coaching provides teachers with immediately applicable supports through modeling, collaborative planning, and one-to-one coaching focused on improving student outcomes. Through ARC’s system design and leadership support, LEA leaders are equipped to monitor and support their implementation through continuous improvement cycles focused on student outcomes.
Why is this important?
How we provide curriculum-aligned PL

Workshops

ARC’s workshop structure supports a transformational literacy design. Teachers work to establish a culture of engaged readers and writers and to increase rigor through the use of high-quality, grade-level texts. Teachers focus on improving student learning outcomes as they begin an ARC Core implementation.

Coaching

Certified ARC Executive Coaches engage with teachers and leaders to co-plan, co-teach, demonstrate, and observe lessons. Procedural feedback and cycles of continuous improvement are used to further instructional practice, identify unique teacher and classroom needs, and to ensure PL sessions remain relevant across the system and implementation.

PLCs

Certified ARC Executive Coaches work collaboratively with teachers in classrooms and in PLCs as they learn to effectively implement ARC Core. While engaged in 1:1 coaching, teachers develop a high capacity to analyze student work to plan effective lessons and to deliver strong, grade-level core instruction and differentiated instruction.

Consultations

ARC’s Professional Learning is flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of schools and districts. ARC provides targeted support to improve implementation of its HQIM, ARC Core, through consultative partnership. This partnership may include iterative cycles of continuous improvement with leaders in its Leadership Learning Series, and/or custom PD.
